A list of our most frequently asked questions

What is the difference between 'Polycarbonate & Glass'?
The main difference is insulation. Our 6mm twin-wall clear polycarbonate has an air pocket between the layers acting like double-glazing on your plants. The insulation properties in winter with frosts and such are the main reason we use this product. Safety is another benefit, you can mow right around our greenhouses, kids can throw balls - because there is no dangerous glass, which can shatter. It's tough stuff! UV stabilized on both sides, the resin itself comes from a well known German company called Bayer. They offer a 10 year guarantee which we pass onto you. However from our experience many people have had this product on their conservatories etc for 15-20 years before replacement is required.

What if I need extra parts or pannels?
No problem at all. We stock plenty of all parts including the polycarbonate in our factory in Auckland. Simply call us with the part numbers and we can get it on a courier to you - anywhere in New Zealand.

Where are these Greenhouses made?
We proudly manufacture these greenhouses (and all our products) at our factory in Auckland. Parts are sourced from all over New Zealand, some from Waikato, Christchurch and remote parts of the South Island. We are proud to deliver a quality product to kiwi's which is made in New Zealand.

Can you assemble it for me?
We have a team of chaps who can assemble your greenhouse if you don’t have the time or ability (although they are fairly straight forward). We normally charge $250-$400 depending on the size. Please contact us to arrange a time, which suits. Alternatively you can get a home-handy man to help out?

What stops the wind catching it?
Firstly the greenhouse base has 4 or 6 (depending on the model) long pegs, which secure it to the ground. The greenhouse is then bolted to the base, there is cross bracing on 8 panels to give the greenhouse cross strength, lastly the polycarbonate is secured in place with top quality rubber beading which locks it into place. We live on the West Coast and have had no troubles over the years.

What size of greenhouse do I need?
Assuming space in your garden is not an issue, this largely depends on how much growing you are planning to do, and to a lesser extent, how much storage space you will need inside your greenhouse. However, most gardeners know that the most common complaint about greenhouses is that they are too small! We therefore advise you to choose the biggest greenhouse you can accommodate in your garden and can afford. Please see our online 'Buyers Guide' for more information on choosing the right greenhouse.

How do I maximize growing capacity?
The best way to maximize growing capacity is with shelving; we have a large range of accessories to assist with this including hanging shelving and free standing shelving. How wide your shelving is depends on your greenhouse size. Please see our 'Layout Guide' for more information.

Pick up and delivery
We delivery nationwide in New Zealand, our freight prices are listed beside each greenhouse model. We also have a warehouse where you can pick up from. Please call our 0800 946 837 to arrange a time for pick up.

Which is the best foundation for drainage?
All our kitsets include a galvanized steel base to secure your greenhouse to the ground. We recommend gravel or stone chips as a good floor covering. You can concrete the floor or just concrete the base in place -  It's up to you. If placing onto concrete, ensure there is sufficient slope for drainage and flip the base 180 degrees so the pegs are face upwards and bolt the base to the concrete.

Where do I position my greenhouse on my section?
The best place is on the south side of your land - facing north, so you get all day sun from east to west. Think about where the shadows are in winter and summer. Please see our 'Positioning Guide' for more information. If the greenhouse will be exposed to winds in your chosen location, please ensure there is an adequate windbreak in position to protect it.

Are your greenhouses safe for children and pets?
Yes. Our polycarbonate is super tough, it will not shatter like glass can.

Do you deliver to the South Island?
Yes, we deliver nationwide, please see our freight prices listed beside each greenhouse model.

Would it require a builder to construct it?
No, the instructions are simple to follow and easy to read. All the parts are clearly labeled, pre drilled and cut to length. The larger greenhouses take 2 people 4-5 hours to construct. We do recommend using a power drill for the screws. You do need two people to hold the panels and aluminum in place.

Are there any ongoing costs?
No, not at all. The only things which you might like to add are accessories such as shelving or a 'Greenhouse Buddy'. The unit itself has no ongoing costs.

What type of maintenance do they require?
We recommend keeping your greenhouse clean (the best way to do this is with a garden hose and gentle brush) but in general they are maintenance free.

Do your greenhouses come with a guarantee?
Yes, all our greenhouses come with a 5 year 'Back to base' Guarantee. We are proud of our products and stand by them 100%.

How long does powder coating last and will it need re-painting?
No, you will never have to re-paint your greenhouse. All powder coating is guaranteed for 5 years and usually has a life span of between 15-25 years.
